Tidal information

The Hydrographic Service is responsible for maintaining the 13 recording Tide Gauges along the river and estuary from Richmond to Walton and Margate.

An introduction to tidal theory, tidal levels, chart datums and FAQs about Thames tides can be found on our Definitions and Notes page.

Meteorological effects and variations in fresh water flow from the upper Thames can cause marked differences from predicted heights and times.
