The Prince’s Trust gets a lift from local company
The Prince’s Trust received a lift this week with a donation of £1,000 from a local forklift truck training company, ALM Training Services. The company, a former Prince’s Trust start up business, is based in Tilbury and will be celebrating their 10th anniversary this month thanks also to the Trust.
The Prince’s Trust first saw the potential of the business when owner, Darren Coleman, originally applied to the Trust for a start up grant. The Trust gave Darren the financial and business support needed to start his business in September 1993. The company has gone from strength to strength and now offers a wide range of forklift courses to companies throughout the South East. Darren has built his company from working alone to a team of six instructors who work both on site and at their Tilbury base.
Darren Coleman comments, “The Prince’s Trust helps many young and unemployed people get their business idea off the ground, in fact we owe a debt of thanks to them ourselves for helping me to get started and placing confidence in me in those early days. Without their help I would never have got the business going so it seems right that we should celebrate our 10th anniversary with a donation to the Trust as we know that the money will be used to help other young people make a start in business too. You never know our money could get the next Richard Branson off the ground!”
ALM Training offers certified training to many people including those on the government’s ‘new deal programme’. Many of those trained through this scheme go on to find full employment. The company is now working with a national training provider offering companies in Essex NVQ level 2 fork lift training.
