Totally Thames in partnership with the Port of London Authority are proud to announce 2016 Thames Lens Photography Winners, Totally Thames annual photography competition.

McGrath has been appointed as the contractor to remove waste from the central section of the Thames Tideway Tunnel, which is being built after years of planning to tackle the problem of overflows from the capital’s Victorian sewerage network.

The Cleaner Thames campaign partners – Port of London Authority, Thames21 and Tideway – took to the Woolwich Arsenal foreshore to clear it of nearly two tonnes of rubbish and litter that has ended up in the river.

The largest fast passenger ferry order for a UK shipyard in over 25 years has been confirmed by MBNA Thames Clippers today. Two new 170 capacity passenger boats will be built at the Wight Shipyard Co on the Isle of Wight, and will join London’s growing river transport network in summer 2017.

The Port of London Authority has warmly welcomed the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s, announcement of a package of new crossings in East and South East London.

The Port of London Authority (PLA) has confirmed that last night (Wednesday, 5 October 2016) at around 6.10 pm one of its pilots was involved in an accident while boarding a ship, Sunmi, in Gravesend Reach. PLA teams on duty, the emergency services and the RNLI did all they could subsequent to the accident, but tragically the pilot passed away.

Tideway has used the river to float new offices to Fulham, in preparation for the start of construction work on the Thames Tideway Tunnel. They arrived at Carnwath Road Riverside this week with the help of Tideway’s newest recruits, two specially-commissioned tug boats, Felix and Christian, following a thirty-mile trip up river from Tilbury.

The Port of London is set to become the first UK port to recognise ship owners committed to progressively improving their environmental performance, as part of a wider approach to reduce the port’s environmental impact.
