DFDS Tor Line Commences New Service To Tilbury (London)

DFDS logo

From the beginning of July 2005, DFDS Tor Line will commence a new ro/ro and container service, AngloBridge South, between Tilbury near London to Gothenburg.

The reason for choosing Tilbury follows the award by StoraEnso of a new contract for shipment of 800,000 tons paper per year to their new distribution centre in Tilbury in SECU boxes. DFDS Tor Line will incorporate the traffic currently shipped between Gothenburg and Harwich into the new Tilbury service, which will initially operate with three sailings per week performed by the 2800 lm Tor Selandia and the 1800 lm Tor Neringa.

The new contract with StoraEnso also includes 400,000 tons paper per year from Gothenburg to Immingham via DFDS Tor Line's daily service where the capacity has been increased during the last year by the introduction of the new Flower class Ro/Ro vessels Tor Petunia, Tor Begonia and Tor Freesia which have added almost 40% capacity to the route.

The new Tilbury service will provide haulage savings to customers with traffic to and from the Greater London area, the South and Southwest. DFDS Tor Line will in due course open a booking and sales office in Tilbury.
