Capture the Essence of London’s Waterways (Thames21 news release)
Thames21 is excited to announce the launch of our 4th annual photography competition. We are inviting budding photographers to enter images of ‘London’s Waterways’ for the chance to win great prizes and to have your photograph exhibited at the National Maritime Museum.
Do you know of a secret place near the river? A magic spot along the canal? A place by the creek, where the light reflects on the water like nowhere else?
Why not share it with us as it is time to bring London’s waterways into the picture! In collaboration with the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich[1], Thames21 once again launch our hugely popular annual photography competition. The competition will be judged by world renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite[2] and you have the chance to win some fantastic prizes: 1st Prize £250, 2nd Prize £150, 3rd Prize £100 and for the under 18s, 2 tickets for the London RIB Voyages[3].
And that’s not all. To coincide with the competition Thames21 are holding a selection of exciting events, which all offer great opportunities to take photographs that can be entered into the competition.
Ben Fenton from Thames21 hopes many Londoners will join the competition: ‘I’m really excited to see the excellent selection of photographs that this year’s competition will bring. Each year we receive pictures from people from all walks of life. From images snapped on mobile phones whilst walking down the canal, to those that have really been thought about and capture a secret London river spot. Everybody has the chance of winning one of the fine prizes we are offering this year and I’m very honoured to be again working with Landscape Photographer Charlie Waite, The Crown Estate and the prestigious National Maritime Museum and look forward to seeing the Shortlisted photographs exhibited there’.

Closing date is Sunday February 2nd and the free exhibition of shortlisted entries opens at the National Maritime Museum on Friday 14th February 2014.
