The Port of London Authority is pleased to announce that, following a thorough tendering process, it has signed a contract with Kongsberg Norcontrol Ltd (KNC) to replace its Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) equipment.

Following a competitive, international selection process, the Port of London Authority has signed a contract with British family-run company, Goodchild Marine Services Ltd, to build a new pilot vessel.

The Tidal Thames Water Safety Forum (TTWSF) is a partnership of key stakeholders committed to reducing the number of people who, accidentally or deliberately, drown in the tidal Thames. The four-year progress report, published today (25 October 2023), highlights the progress that has been made on delivering the Drowning Prevention Strategy which launched in 2019.

Enforcement of navigational safety on the tidal Thames by the Port of London Authority has resulted in the prosecution of the Master of one of two passenger boat vessels involved in a collision on the river last December.

Staff from riverside businesses have been signing up for a water safety course, equipping them with the skills to prevent drownings on the tidal Thames, stretching 95 miles from Teddington in west London to the North Sea.
