Trade through the Port of London reached 53.2 million tonnes last year, a level last seen more than a decade ago.

The PLA says that trade through the Port of London in the first six months of 2012 was down by 1.664 million tonnes (6.85%), compared to the same period last year.

Trade in the Port of London in 2016 reached the highest this decade, rising 10% to top 50 million tonnes for the first time since 2008.

The Port of London Authority (PLA), which celebrates its centenary today, has announced that trade through the Port of London remained steady at 53 million tonnes in 2008.

Port of Tilbury, London’s major port, has today (1 April 2016) announced plans for a major storage expansion at the port’s Grain Terminal as part of the port’s growth strategy. The investment will see storage capacity increase to accommodate up to an additional 16,000 metric tonnes of both import and export wheat at the Thames based port.
